Level what?!? Getting confused with these funny terms like: beginner, improver, intermediate, advanced? Check out the explanation here where we will describe the dancing levels held at the festival and the knowledge.
So, you are going to workshops, yes?! You want to learn and have a good time or you want to feel bad and ask yourself why did you get yourself in this mess anyway? Well, the way how you feel is going to be directly connected to your knowledge of dancing and the level which you chose to follow. If you have overestimated yourself, prepare for the pain, frustration and bad feeling as you will be trying to catch all those nice moves but you will not be able to - YET!
Like in life, in dancing there is no jumping the steps we need to learn to become better. We have made a highly structured program of workshops based on the level of dance and based on a style of dance. So, if you are confident improver dancer, go try with higher level of dancing, but do so with level above, not with 2 levels above your knowledge. And if it does not work with you, go to your level which you can follow. That way you will learn, people around you will be able to work with you and they will learn themselves too. If you are dancing with higher level partners and you cannot lead or follow, your partner will be unhappy! The same goes with other styles. If you are confident advanced dancer of Cuban dances that does not mean you can attend NY style advanced level classes as it requires different knowledge. And vice versa!
So, again. Make sure that you choose correct level for yourself. This is very important for you and the other people on the class. If you choose higher level of yours you will probably not be able to follow with the rest of the class. You will probably loose the point of the class and the partners dancing with you will not be able to follow the class. Do you want that? Of course not.
