Salsa is an area in which I have been involved for many years. Alongside the dance, I also became interested in the music from the start. Whether it’s Cuban son or timba, salsa from New York, Puerto Rico, Columbia, or salsa from somewhere else in the world - the rhythmical basis for this music, the clave, is something that I just cannot resist.
I always find it exciting to work with the various styles and epochs, to examine their roots, their similarities and differences. I hope that my work contributes something to the preservation and proliferation of salsa; the music, which constantly inspires such fascinating and unrelenting movement and dance.
